Anyway so much has happened since I last "wrote" on here.
At the end of August we went to Inverness by train - we had a wonderful 4 days away - the train trip was long to say the least - as long as flying to Calgary! - but it was great. We stayed in a hotel not too far from the city centre so we could walk in and out as we wanted. We did the boat trip on Loch Ness and the only monster I saw was Alfred carrying some coffee out of the cabin on the boat! The scenery is spectacular and that whole trip is to be recommended to everyone. It was such a good rest as well - no work, no car - just great to be away from it all.
Nick and Natalie have just come back from visiting Marianne, Bob and Bayden and their photos look great. We will be seeing them on Saturday as they are coming up for my birthday. We are going out to dinner at this restaurant called Imperial Bento - it is a Chinese/Japanese/Malaysian restaurant - expensive but great! Last time we went there we had such a great time - started off the evening at 7 and finally got home at 12.30 - I had too much wine and couldn't remember even getting home! It was good fun and the food is amazing.
Our book on Cape Town - called Cape Town Almost Forgotten is awaiting printing - it's all been proofed, the cover done, isbn no. put on etc. etc. and is looking good - we should have it back this week and then will have to do some marketing. Fortunately working for a publishing company I have had some good tips and they will be doing some of it for me. I spoke to the Managing Director the other day and he has given me this amazingly thick book to read all about marketing your book! Anyway - it is looking good and we are happy with it. We were trying to get a photo of the Doll's House restaurant to include but this arrived after it went to press so now will have to go in the revised edition some time in the future - if we get permission to use the pic, that is!
Anway that's it from me for now - oh and the other bit of brilliant news is that after 2 years Alfred's mom has finally moved out - the parting was not too sweet but essential from our point of view and life is now normal again.
(I will add more photos next time - hopefully it won't take me another 4 months!)
